Earlier Today, Friday 9 January, I joined the Lagos State Commissioner for Special Duties and Intergovernmental relations and Chairman of the Committee on Demolition of the Great Nigeria Insurance House, Mr. Gbenga Oyerinde, Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Ministry of Urban Development, Arch. Gbolahan Oki, Acting General Manager of the Lagos State Building Control Agency, Bldr. Florence Omolola Gbaye, Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu, General Manager of the Lagos State Neighbourhood Safety Agency, Prince Ifalade Oyekan, National Emergency Management Agency, Lagos State and Federal Fire Service Officers in preparation for the Controlled Demolition of the Great Nigeria Insurance House gutted by fire on Wednesday, 24 December 2025.
The Lagos State Government is set to conduct Structural and Material Tests on the affected High-rise building.
Experts have been deployed to the site to enforce the best global standard practice during and after the demolition exercise.
Security Personnel are stationed at strategic locations at the site.
I urge residents, traders, and pedestrians to stay off the environment.
